The man who grabbed a narwhal tusk to subdue the London Bridge attacker is a Polish immigrant who was injured by the jihadist.
Identified only as Luckasz by The Times of London, the man works at Fishmongers’ Hall, setting up events and managing workers there and is originally from Poland.
His efforts were captured on camera and posted on social media by several bystanders.
The attack apparently started in the hall, a historic building that houses a variety of treasures and hosts events, including the conference where the attacker, Usman Khan, was slated to speak.
One of his colleagues, who asked not to be named, told the Times Luckasz ran towards Usman Khan as he threatened to set off an apparent explosive strapped to his body. He was “cut in the hand but not in critical condition,” the colleague said. The explosive vest turned out to be fake, authorities said.
“Being stabbed didn’t stop him giving him a beating. Luckasz is a hero.”
