This Watch Is Your Affordable Alternative to the Royal Oak or Nautilus - Gear Patrol

Have several tens of thousands of dollars burning a hole in your pocket that you’d like to waste on a steel sports watch with an integrated bracelet but can’t seem to make that happen for yourself due to artificially restricted supply? Well, we’ve got a better idea. Invest that money in low-cost index funds instead, but first, save all of $570 of it for one of these:

The Günter, from German brand Deutsche Uhrenfabrik (“DuFa”) is a refreshingly affordable take on the 1970s, Genta-designed sports watch. Named for Brutalist architect Günter Block (whose work admittedly seems unavailable for casual perusal on Google), the Günter features a 39mm x 9.5mm case with a mix of polished and brushed surfaces, an integrated H-link bracelet and the Miyota 9015 automatic movement.

Available in four colors, the handsome dial is stark and unadorned, making use of a mix of circular and block indices, an outer 1/5th-seconds track, a date wheel and a thin handset. Pretty damn handsome and relatively affordable, the Günter may be able to fill that Royal Oak/Nautilus-sized void in your horological life for less than the cost of a service one of those iconic watches.
