An important member of the New England Patriots defense will return Sunday after missing the last two games.
Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty is back to face the Kansas City Chiefs at Gillette Stadium. McCourty's return from a groin injury comes at the perfect time for New England as it prepares to face arguably the best quarterback in the league in Patrick Mahomes, who on the AP NFL MVP award last season.
There aren't any surpise inactives for the Patriots entering Week 14. Veteran wide receivers Julian Edelman and Mohamed Sanu will both play despite being on the injury report as limited participants in practice all week.
The Chiefs will be without running backs Damien Williams (inactive) and Darrel Williams (injured reserve). Kansas City likely will use running back Darwin Thompson quite a bit against the Patriots run defense. Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark will play despite being questionable after missing two practices this week.
The outcome of this game will have a huge impact on the AFC playoff picture. The Patriots are trying to keep pace with the Baltimore Ravens in the race for the conference's No. 1 seed, while the Chiefs are aiming to strengthen their hold on first place in the AFC West and also improve their chances of earning a top two seed.
