It’s a lukewarm broth of offerings on Netflix this week, a wintry mix of possibly amusing Netflix Originals that have cult potential but are—let’s face it—more likely to just pass the time than change your life.
Wednesday brings docuseries Cheer, about a college cheerleading squad vying to win the big competition. AJ and the Queen debuts Friday, starring RuPaul as a drag queen traveling across the country in an RV with a bratty ten-year-old sidekick. And Medical Police (also Friday) is the new series from the team behind Children’s Hospital about doctors who investigate diseases...and murders!!! I didn’t watch CH but this looks sort of hilarious.
Who are we kidding. I’m definitely going to be tuning in for Betty White: First Lady of Television on Sunday. I’ve been mainlining the Golden Girls on Hulu to deal with my New Year’s blues and if there’s one thing certain to brighten my mood, it’s life and career retrospective of the genius who incarnated national treasure Rose Nylund.
